Building Blocks

The boys are having fun building with blocks today. Joshua is building a "water fountain with snow on top", and Jacob is building "a big house with a window" for me. Joshua also wants to build a house, but he wants to put a mailbox on top.

Happy Learning!,

My Littlest Helper

My little Joe really wants to be like his big brothers. And one great thing about having big brothers is the example they set of being helpers around the house! Joe has developed a certain fondness for this child-sized mop and he goes and gets it out at every opportunity.

Maybe little Joe is ready for chores, LOL.

What I'm Wearing

Our plans for the day have changed, so it looks like we will be staying home today. That gives me more time to work on lesson plans so I'll take it :).

I decided to wear a calf-length khaki skirt, my orange plaid button down shirt, and a bright pink cardigan. I'm pairing that with brown slip-on Mary-Janes, my round diamond pendant and round diamond drop earrings, pearl bracelets, and woven headband.

If the boys are being good we may decide to run out for icecream later, but I kinda think it would be more fun if we waited until Daddy was home.

Going to the library for Story Time has had such an impact on the boys! They are excited about reading and learning! They almost can't get enough of looking at books. It's so neat to see their excitement, and I am just giddy that they are so eager to learn. I am hoping it is a passion that will continue.

Love,

What I'm Wearing

Today we are at home all day, but I have a busy day nonetheless! I am working on our schedules and what-not for the upcoming school year.

Today I decided to wear my khaki cropped pants with black and white plaid design, a peach shortsleeved sweater blouse, and black Mary-Janes. To accessorize I chose a white ribbon for my pony tail, a square diamond pendant that is set on it's side, with square diamond earrings, and watch with white leather band.

Sloppy Joes

Someone was asking about my sloppy joe recipe, so I decided to share it here :). It is super easy and is a great solution for dinner in a time crunch.

Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef
1 onion, chopped finely
1 can tomato sauce
1/2 c. ketchup
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. chili powder

Directions:
Fry hamburger and onion in a large skillet. Drain off fat. Put meat and onion back into skillet and add remaining ingredients. Simmer for 20 minutes.

Some people serve it on a bun, but it is great on sliced homemade bread as well!

Bear Hugs,

Story Time at the Library

Today's theme was all about dancing, so they had the children make the craft first- hula skirt! I wasn't sure how Jacob would feel about wearing a hula skirt, but he actually thought it was fun. They had several songs with dance movements, and stories about dancing, and then a funny short film about a giraffe who danced. The boys particularly enjoyed dancing around with scarves. Joshua had a blast and was surprisingly social- mingling with quite a few toddlers (one of which thought his shoes were pretty awesome, lol)

After story time we decided to take some time and look for books. Jacob found a HUGE (like 500 pages) book of Thomas the Tank Engine stories, which he is THRILLED about. So we just arrived home with a tote bag full of books, and Jacob can't wait to sit down with his!

What I'm Wearing

Today we are headed to Story Time at the library, and then this afternoon I will work on laundry, and hopefully find a little time to read.

I am wearing a calf-length black and white checked skirt, a red maternity sweater-blouse, and black Mary-Janes. I am accessorizing with a heart pendant, round diamond drop style earrings, diamond watch with silver band, and my white and red Coach bag. Does the lime green library tote count as an accessory, LOL?

I Just Had to Laugh...

The boys have been a little, well, rambunctious today, and I asked Jacob where his good face was. And he said "OH, I bought a new box of good faces, here, let me put one on."

Hugs,

Simple Woman's Day Book

Outside my window...rain and thunderstorms. AGAIN. I know I mentioned just last week that it seems like it is always raining on Tuesdays...how odd...

I am thinking... I have a lot on my mind this morning...I'm a little frustrated about something...something that is probably a small and silly thing, but it has frustrated me nonetheless. I'm trying to decide the best way to handle the situation, but I HATE confrontation.

From the learning rooms... the library has become the boys favorite place. They even pretend "going to the library" and have pretend library cards. I think that Jacob would happily sit at the tables there and look through books all day. My kind of kid...

I am thankful for... a big closet. LOL. I really need to get mine organized (yes I am STILL working on that), but I am thankful to have my own closet. It's just one of those luxuries that feels sooooo nice. I saw this adorable closet on a show on HGTV the other day where she painted it hotpink and hung one of those little chandeliers in it....now THAT would be cool...

From the kitchen... I am thinking a casserole. That way, if we are going to the homeschool meeting I have something to take, and if we aren't, then I have a casserole for dinner tonight.

I am wearing... khaki wide legged cropped pants, a pink tee, and a white cardigan with pink and black stripes in it.

I am reading... The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

I am hoping... that the boys will have a quiet day, and that I hear back from the lady about the get-together this evening for the homeschool group (trying not to let that one frustrate me because it's sort of a pet peeve of mine), that I can get a few things done around the house today...

I am creating... I haven't been doing a whole lot of creating lately, it just keeps feeling like there are too many other things to be done. However, I do need to get my scrapbooking rolling organizer out and set up because I am actually going to a crop on Friday evening. Wahoo!

I am praying... I am praying for a sweet friend whose pregnancy and impending adoption has really been on my heart lately. I am also praying that I can overcome feeling so tired with this pregnancy. I have so much to do, and with the upcoming school year, and other activities, life is getting busy. I just need to find a new routine for getting everything done.

Around the house... laundry, laundry, laundry. Oh, did I mention that I have some laundry to do?

One of my favorite things... cuddling with Oliver at night, wearing pink (especially on a gray, dark day), and, of course, coffee.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Possibly going to the mall for icecream and playing at the fountains with a mom's group (although with the weather I am just not sure), maybe a homeschool meeting (if I here back with the information in time), Tomorrow we have story time at the library, and Friday evening I am going to a crop.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...
Can you believe that this little guy is my bear...just one short year ago? It is hard to believe how fast they grow. As we are preparing for the arrival of our precious new blessing, it is so neat for me to go back and look at pictures of the other boys. This one is neat because Joshua looks so much like he does now, only much smaller, LOL.

Not Me Monday

I do not have an addiction to coffee, and have not mentioned said non-existent addiction to coffee nearly every day recently because it is constantly on my mind. I would NEVER consume large (well, does 3 cups count as "large" anyway?) quantities of said coffee everyday, especially with being pregnant.

I have not suddenly started chewing gum constantly (Orbit Maui Melon Mint gum, to be specific) because I do not think that chewing gum is very ladylike or polite and would never be caught dead doing so in public. I also did not purchase the first pack of said chewing gum because the colors on the package were "pretty".

I have not gone to bed with the house a mess everyday in the last week because I am an AWESOME housekeeper and would never be able to sleep at night knowing that the house was not in order. (WAIT- is THAT why I am having trouble sleeping lately????)

I did not hear from my midwife that I very likely have gestational diabetes again and then immediately start craving cheese danish. Ughhhhhhh.

I would never tell my son that icecream bars are only for mommies.

I am not waiting until the last possible minute before we have to leave to get the boys dressed because they are always dressed and ready to go first thing in the morning.

I have not lost my mind because clearly that happened some time ago and you can't lose what is already lost, right? Hey, wait a minute, that is good news, right? If I have already lost my mind then I do not have to worry about that anymore, lol.

Blessings From Crazy Land,

What I'm Wearing

Today I have an eye appointment, but other than that it should be a typical day at home. Today I am wearing a mulberry colored plaid button down shirt, khaki capri pants, and a white three quarter sleeved cardigan. For shoes I am wearing croco-embossed kitten heels, and I am carrying my favorite Prada bag. I chose my three stone pendant and earrings, and a Gossip watch with a white leather band to accessorize.

NOTE TO SELF: I clearly have an addiction to cardigan sweaters. LOL. Oh well, add it to the list.

Pink Saturday

A while back I shared my planner for Pink Saturday. Well, a few days ago I had a situation that was nearly disastrous (ok, that may be a bit extreme, but it felt like it at the time, lol). I had left my planner sitting on the breakfast room table, and a bear, who shall remain nameless ;), found the temptation to great to resist. He took my pen and scribbled all along the inside cover. Oh, I wanted to cry. I just love my planner, and I like things to be perfect, so I felt just devastated that my pretty planner was ruined. Of course, I knew that he hadn't meant to "ruin" my planner, and I really wasn't angry at him. (afterall, I did leave it on the table...). A few days went by and the situation with my planner was just really irking me. It seemed silly to replace it...but the ink would not come out of the cover...what was I to do????

Then, yesteday, inspiration struck. Perhaps this was an opportunity to pinkify (yes, in my world that is a real word, lol) my planner. So I pulled out a few sheets of pretty paper, a couple of pretty stickers, and one of my new calling cards...and voila! An even prettier planner!

Happy Pink Saturday, y'all!

With Love,
