Pink Saturday

It's been awhile since I have done a "Pink Saturday" post, but these flowers that Jacob and Daddy gave to me re-inspired me!

It looks like they are in a pink vase- but they are not! The vase is clear, but the WATER is pink. How cool is that? The flowers had a little packet of the stuff to keep them fresh longer, and it turned the water pink. Love it! It looks a little orangey-pink in the picture, but in person it's actually just pink.

I love how thoughtful the gentlemen in my family are! Jacob loves to bring me flowers, and I love knowing that he thought of me. (and of course, Rick is just the sweetest man on earth who also loves to bring me flowers ;))

Simple Woman's Daybook

Outside my window... it looks like Spring!

I am thinking... so much to do, so little time!

From the learning rooms...I was amazed to hear little Joe counting to ten!!!

I am thankful for...my home, my family, new friends, living what feels like my dream life.

From the kitchen... made laundry soap, now I need to figure out dinner...

I am wearing... olive pants, a purple-ish top, and brown cardigan (wow, that sounds boring, but I guess it's one of those outfits that doesn't describe well, lol)

I am reading... um, um, um....

I am hoping... to find an amazing source of energy and motivation hiding somewhere...

I am creating... a clean and organized home, lol.

I am praying... for peace as it feels like my world is changing so much these days.

Around the house...busy days! It seems like there is always so much to do and not nearly enough time, lol.

One of my favorite things...drinking coffee in silence before waking up the boys.

A few plans for the rest of the week...church tomorrow, a picnic playdate with a friend, possibly attending a career conference, and I think that's about all that's set in stone at this point.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you..

Frugal Friday- With an Added Bonus

This weeks Frugal Friday tip comes with the added bonus of a Child Training Tip!

We were having an issue with food being wasted. A child would decide they didn't want leftover spaghetti, or they would ask for bowl after bowl of cereal...with half of it ending up on the floor. My husband does not like to waste food, so we decided to come up with a solution. We wanted to teach our children to not waste our food resources, and we also wanted to teach them to be obedient, even in things they didn't really want to...

So, we instituted a new rule. If you do not eat it, then it is saved and served again to you for the next meal. If you throw it on the floor, you will put it back on your plate. After a day of spaghetti for breakfast, our food wasting problem was solved.

I want to add, on a side note, that we are not unreasonable about this. If it is something that a child has tried and just legitimately do not like, we do not make them eat it. The reason we instituted this was that they were wasting things that they did in fact like, simply out of stubbornness. (I don't want oatmeal today...)

Time For a Change!

There have been so many changes taking place in my life, so I felt that it was time for a change on my blog as well!

I have spent my entire life feeling shy, preferring to stay on the sidelines, content with being quiet. Then one day, a part of me woke up. This part of me that enjoys being social, enjoys bright colors, and enjoys facing new challenges. I figured out that I have spent my entire life afraid of stepping out.

A few months ago, I attended a time  management seminar at our local library. It was a wonderful experience. For some reason, I felt comfortable. I felt knowledgeable about the subject, and found myself actually speaking in front of this group of people. I was shocked and amazed. I left the seminar and found that my confidence level was through the roof. This opened my eyes to something that shocked me...Maybe I'm not shy, I'm just scared!

Scared of what, you might ask...Scare of succeeding, scared of becoming something more than the shy, quiet girl I'd always been. Scared of admitting that I like bright pink, and not just pale pink. Honestly, there probably wasn't much of anything that DIDN'T scare me.

Learning that little fact has changed my life. It's not that I wasn't happy before, because I was. But, I feel like I am growing into myself, if that makes any sense- and that's a wonderful feeling.

There's a whole world of potential out there, that I didn't even know existed.  I am so incredibly excited to discover it!

Simple Woman's Day Book

Outside my window... drab and dreary...it sure doesn't LOOK like Spring is almost here!

I am thinking... How much I love my life!

From the learning rooms...learning memory verse, discussing generosity, writing alphabet letters...

I am thankful for...opportunities ahead of me, my supportive family...OH, and my new Expedition!

From the kitchen... Steak and veggies. Yummmmm.

I am wearing... a taupe skirt with pink flowers, brown cami, and a lace jacket.

I am reading... um, um, um....

I am hoping... to get over this cold. :(

I am creating... a new career selling Mary Kay!

I am praying... for a dear friend who has a lot going on.

Around the house... little boys sleeping, laundry going, and a sleepy Mommy.

One of my favorite things...cuddling with my boys :)

A few plans for the rest of the week... a St. Patrick's party tomorrow, church, playing Bunco with the ladies and a girl's night out...

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you..

Frugal Friday

One major thing that we do to be frugal, is buying in bulk. Not everything that is sold in bulk is a good deal, so definitely pay attention to the price per unit. We have found that in general, most staples are cheaper when purchased in larger quantities (flour, sugar, rice...)

Another added benefit to buying in bulk is convenience! It is nice to have things on hand, and I rarely worry about running out of my pantry staples.
