Frugal Friday

This one may not apply to everyone, but for those of us with little ones still using diapers, pull-ups or wipes-
I tend to buy these things in the largest packs they have, LOL, which means they come in boxes. I use to throw these boxes away, and then when we were in the process of packing to move I started saving them to use for smaller items. After we moved I realized we had a TON of these boxes, and ever since then I cannot bring myself to throw them away. As I have been trying to get our new house organized I keep running into the problem of not having enough storage...
It suddenly dawned on me that I had a solution just sitting in the basement! So, I started pulling out these diaper boxes. I cut the flaps that close up the top off, now I had what was basically a cardboard "drawer". Functional but not very pretty. The other day an answer to that problem occurred to me- just make 'em pretty, LOL. So I am going to get some decorative contact paper and cover these boxes.

Love,

The Costumes Have Arrived!

Oh my goodness, they are just too cute for words!

Simple Woman's Day Book

Outside my window...a chilly gray day.

I am thinking... I can't believe how behind we are today...oh wait, yes I can!

From the learning rooms... the boys are LOVING school!!!!!

I am thankful for... my house which is actually clean!

From the kitchen...it feels good to be able to cook real meals for my family again.

I am wearing...
olive wide-legged dressy trousers, a light olive shirt with lavender flowers and a taupe cardigan.

I am reading... reading...gee that sounds nice.

I am hoping...to somehow find energy. I am just so tired.

I am creating... most of my creative energy has gone towards lesson plans and organizing my house right now...

I am praying... oh I have so much on my heart right now, I wouldn't know where to begin, lol.

Around the house... just trying to keep things maintained...the house is really in good shape!

One of my favorite things... that Joshua really believes he is a bear...

A few plans for the rest of the week...school, Thursday James has a dr's appt. and we have a Trunk r' Treat thing at Daddy's work, a few trips to the tanning bed, Friday we will carve pumpkins, Saturday we will go to a local Fall Festival...

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you..

Kitchen Re-do

I cannot remember what this color is called, and I don't have the paint swatch handy, so I will have to come back and add that later, lol.

This color adds so much light to an already sunny room.

***Update*** The color is called "Summer Heat" from Dutch Boy.

Living Room Re-do

I was reminded earlier that I never posted pictures after we painted the living room and kitchen. So, without further ado- here they are!

The color we used is Avocado Escape from Dutch Boy. I LOVE this color! We hung red and cream toile valances from Waverly. I don't know why but I just really like the green and red together. I also really like the contrast of the dark wood with the bold colors. The living room has really become such a comfortable place in our house, and I just love spending time in there.

I think one of my favorite things in the room is being surrounded by family photographs. And I like that the room is pretty but the children can play in there without too much concern of breaking something.

Rather than putting the foam things on the fireplace, we decided to use a quilt that had the colors from the room in it. Now the fireplace is a comfy place for Joshua to sit with a book (he just loves to sit there, lol), and it added an accent of color to the room!

Back To School!

Today was our first day back doing school after an extended break. The boys were soooo excited!

I was so impressed with the effort that Jacob and Joshua gave! Joshua tried so hard on his worksheets and grasped the concepts rather quickly. He was so pleased with what he did that he begged me to post his work on the refrigerator for Daddy to see.

And Jacob took such care in making his pumpkin craft...he really wanted to do a good job. He was so proud that he did the whole project on his own. When he was finished he told baby Jamie that he made his pumpkin for him, and that is why he did his best. Just too sweet...

I was happy to see as much enthusiasm for the worksheets as they had for the art project and story time. :) I was also happy to see how much information their little minds have retained, even when not "officially" having school. Our unit this week is about Fall, and the boys were able to tell me so much about what happens in the Fall.

Jacob really enjoyed exploring our October Sensory Tub, which is filled with different kinds of beans, and colorful feathers.

Not Me Monday

That is not a diaper stuck to our bedroom ceiling. After all, how would a diaper get stuck to the top of our trey ceiling? You see, there was a spider up there, and I, being the total freak that I am about things, could not handle the thought of going to sleep with a spider up there. So then my husband, being the chivalrous hero that he is, went looking for something to throw at the spider, hoping to knock it down so that he could kill it...So, looking around our room, the only object he could find was apparently a diaper...at least it was an UN-used one!!!! *Big Sigh* So, he throws the diaper at the spider, but guess what? The diaper STUCK to the ceiling! Of course it did NOT knock down the spider. So then we were left with the dilemma of what to do next. The decision was made to leave the diaper there, thinking it would surely fall off on it's own in a matter of minutes. Of course it did NOT.

So, the next day he decided he was going to have to knock it down, so he threw one of our decorative pillows at it. Thankfully the pillow did not stick to anything, LOL. And of course, the spider was no longer up there...

Spiders are MEAN.

Our Weekend

Friday we decided to go to dinner at IHOP. It was Jamie's first trip to a restaurant.
Saturday morning, Daddy worked on the yard, Mommy cooked a big breakfast and the boys played.

Saturday afternoon I worked on this week's lesson plans while Daddy and the boys watched Georgia Tech football. Tech won and I got the lesson plans finished so it was a good day, lol.

After the game, Jacob and Daddy gave Oliver a bath. Jacob said, "He looks like a wet rag..." I think he MEANT to say "wet rat" but didn't understand that that is the saying, LOL.
