"White Sunday" Cake

Pentecost, also known as Whitsunday, celebrates the birthday of the Christian Church, when the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles. In honor of this special day, we made a "White Sunday" cake.

We used white frosting in honor of it being "White Sunday". The large candle in the center is to symbolize Christ, Who had promised to send the Holy Spirit.

"But the Comforter, who is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." John 14:26

The 12 smaller candles surrounding the center candle represent the Twelve Apostles and the tongues of fire.

"And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them." Acts 2:3

The seven hearts represent the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.

"And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:" Isaiah 11:2-3

And the twelve strawberries surrounding the cake represent the Fruits of the Spirit.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,  Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another." Galatians 5:22-26

We sang Happy Birthday to the Church before blowing out the candles with a "mighty wind".

Blessings Abound,
