Christmas Around Our Home

The children had fun helping to decorate our mini-tree in the living room. They REALLY wanted bows on the tree :).I love seeing our stockings hanging in a row on the fireplace. Next year I am hoping to embroider names on each stocking.I think decorating the tree is one of my favorite parts of getting the house ready for Christmas. For some reason, putting the ornaments on the tree makes me slow down and just think about each person in my family and...

Simple Woman's Day Book

Outside my window...SNOW!I am thinking... How can children be dead to the world asleep one second, and then in the middle of a rowdy conversation the next? And how do BOTH boys start in the middle of a conversation with each other...as if the fell asleep talking and just woke up to finish the conversation...From the learning rooms... learning about long and short, practicing drawing straight, and slanted lines and circles, and drawing real pictures!...

Pink Saturday

As I said last week, most of you know of my love for all things pink and pretty, and for homemaking. But those of you who REALLY know me well, no of my other great love...COFFEE. Ok, so maybe you don't have to know me that well to know that, LOL.I have been looking for the perfect coffee cup. I am a tiny bit (slight under exaggeration, lol) particular about my cup. It had to be stainless steel (inside, not just on the outside) because I am just certain...

Proverbs 31:15

"She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens." The virtuous wife is up before the sun, showing that idleness and laziness have no place with her. There are great benefits to rising up early. It is a quiet time free from the noise and distractions of the day. It is an ideal time to spend with the Lord in quiet meditation and prayer, starting the day with Him. We have the example of...

Thankful Thursday

It seems I can hardly turn around without being reminded of something else that I am thankful for. I think if I tried to list all of the little things that seem to make my life so wonderful, I would never finish that list!It also seems that every week, I write about how thankful I am for my boys. I can't help it, but when I think of the things I am most thankful for, they are always right up at the top of that list. Don't get me wrong, there are...

A Good Day...

Today was one of the good days. I don't know why, but everything just seemed to run smoothly. It was a nice change of pace, because lately it has seemed like there have been more of the challenging days!We got a late start so I was worried it would be another day of playing "catch-up". With Jamie not sleeping through the night yet it feels like we are always running behind schedule and feeling a little sluggish. But today something amazing happened....

Proverbs 31:14

"She is like the merchants' shipsShe bringeth food from afar" The meaning of this verse seems to be fairly clear, in that it is the virtuous wife's responsibility to provide food for her family. I find it interesting that it mentions her bringing food from afar, since it would have been unlikely that she would have traveled to far off places in search of food, especially since so many of her duties are in the actual home. I think the meaning is...

I Am Thankful For...

I am so thankful for my family and for my home! I am so thankful for all of the many ways that God has blessed us!I'm certain that if he could talk, Jamie would tell us that he is thankful for his brothers. I am so thankful for my precious little one. He is such a gift from God, and I am so blessed to have him in my family!I am so thankful for my wonderful husband! He does an amazing job of providing for us and taking care of us. He is more than...
