Party Prep!

We made Ten Commandments gift bags out of paper bags, a copy of the Ten Commandments on tablets of stone, and yarn.

My friend Deb and I got together to make costumes for our children. Her mother in law had Bible costumes that she let us borrow, so we traced out a pattern to use.

We found spray paint that makes the paper look and feel like stone. We used that for the Ten Commandments tablets, and for the rock to cover the water cooler. We also found a beautiful metallic gold spray paint for our golden calf pinata.

Such fun!

Fall Crafting

Making glitter pumpkins has become almost a yearly tradition in our family, ever since I came across the idea six years ago. It's a really simple craft, but one that we always enjoy making. It adds sparkle and fun to our Fall decor! I have learned though, that this is one project best done outside!

I wasn't sure if James would actually make one himself, but he got right in there and picked up a brush and started painting the glue onto his pumpkin! I was quite impressed. He actually really enjoys crafts! He really didn't make that big of a mess either...

Little Bear always takes his projects very seriously. He likes to make sure to do a thorough job! I love watching him carefully paying attention to detail...it's such a contrast from his often rough and tumble ways.

Sometimes you just have to get a little glue on your hands and a little glitter in your hair, but it sure makes life enjoyable!

Mama made one, too!

Our finished pumpkins, ready for the dining table centerpiece!

We also decorated our pumpkins for the outdoor display. The three large pumpkins say "Count Your Blessings", and each child has a small pie pumpkin with their name on it.

Daddy's Coming Home!

Rick is on his way home! He is in Birmingham so he should be home soon.

I finally did some scrapbooking last night. I have not had much time at all to work on it since before Christmas. I am just now working on Thanksgiving and early December pictures. I am so behind, but it felt nice to be making something again.

Getting Ready to Move!

Two more birthday presents arrived today. Mom sent me an Anna Griffin scrapbooking kit to make a family album. Anna Griffin is my favorite paper crafting designer. And the second present was from Rick and it was a 2000 pc. scrapbooking kit. I am so excited to use them!

Rick gave me a beautiful diamond cross necklace for my birthday. My is it gorgeous!

Tomorrow morning Princess has a groomer's appointment and she has a vet appointment on Friday afternoon. I am trying to get her all set before we move. It is time for her annual check up and I can pick up her records while I am there.

Cindy sent me a lovely thank you card for the rice pad that I had made for her.

The movers are scheduled for next Tuesday. We also rented an additional truck from U-haul, because we will not fit in one truck.

Jacob has been in such a happy mood today. He slept in late- I think because of the rain. And he took a great nap this afternoon. He woke up just full of smiles. He really enjoyed his sweet potatoes for lunch.

Princess is a nervous wreck. She knows something is going on but she can't figure out what. She can be such a nervous little creature. She is constantly barking and pacing and acting out for attention. I hope she will adjust well at the new house. I know she will like being able to play outdoors.

Rick is bringing home even more boxes. I am amazed at the number of boxes we have.

Yay!

We have a signed contract on the house! The sellers cannot close until March 1st, so I will have enough time to pack. I can't believe we are buying a house! I mean, I can believe it because God can do anything, but it is just so wonderful.

I am cutting up some old clothes into scrap fabric that I want to use to make a quilt after we move. I thought that would be special.

I have been so preoccupied with the house search that I have not had much time for crafts.

I made broccoli and cheese casserole for dinner. It was what my grandmother always made for me when I visited her. It was her mother's recipe. It is a great comfort food.

Sewing, Holiday Preparations, and Playtime with Jacob

Yesterday was a busy day. I wrapped Jacob's Christmas presents and made all of the bows for them. I also made the rice heating pads, so now I just need to write out the instructions on pretty cards. I made the first four rows of Beth's throw. I hope to finish it this weekend.

I really enjoyed sewing yesterday. My sewing table is in front of a window and it was so pleasant to sit there working on my projects and gazing out of the window. I think I will want to find more sewing projects to do now that I have such a wonderful place to sew.

Today is Dad's birthday. I need to make sure to remind Rick to call him.

I need to work on making Christmas cards. I haven't even decided on what I am making. I also really need to get started on the gift baskets. I need to plan the dinner menu for Christmas. We also need to finish Christmas shopping. There is so much to do!

Jacob is really starting to enjoy his playtime on the floor. He likes that he is able to hold on to toys. We have a lot of fun playing together.

I cannot believe that it is almost Christmas. This year has flown by! Time is passing by so quickly. I can hardly believe that Jacob is four months old. Princess' birthday is in two days. We have had her nearly a year. It has really gone by fast.

I really love my new craft room! It is such a pleasant place to work! I really had a wonderful time sewing yesterday. It made me want to do more sewing. I would really like to learn more sewing skills. I think that it is wonderful to make things. It makes me feel so good inside. I think that it would be fantastic to be able to make clothes. Maybe I will be able to teach myself. I have taught myself other things, so I think that I could learn. I am currently teaching myself to knit.

Shopping and Scrapbooking

This afternoon I had a chiropractic appointment, and then Jacob and I went shopping to buy a few craft supplies for Christmas gifts that I am making. I am making rice heating pads for Mom, Memaw, Cindy and Beth. I am also making a quilted throw made of fleece for Beth. Jacob was sweet at the store.

I worked on our wedding album this morning. It is finally almost finished! It has only been three years, lol! It has turned out beautifully. I am very pleased with it. I plan to do a family album next. Well, actually two. One for all of the day to day and special pictures over the next year, and then one that will hold pictures from all of the special occasions-to be added to throughout the years. That album is a beautiful leather bound book that we will keep in the living room.

Blessings,
