Father's Day Bowling

For Father's Day, Daddy thought it would be lots of fun to take the family bowling. We'd never been before, so it was a fun new adventure! We had a wonderful time, and I'm pretty sure the people next to us were rather amused!

 Watching Joseph bowl was the cutest thing ever. His ball would roll so slowly that we'd be just certain it'd never make it. He'd stand and watch it ever so patiently, though. And, the attendant only had to go get his ball once. ;)

Bowling was a fun family activity that we'll definitely have to do again! Happy Father's Day, Daddy!

Birthday at the Zoo!

 For Daddy's birthday, he really wanted to spend the day at the zoo with his family. We packed a picnic lunch of smoked ham and honey mustard sandwiches, boiled eggs, and chips.

 We had so much fun together, now that so many of the children were really old enough to enjoy the animals. James talked for days and days about how much fun the train ride was! He loved that he got to sit by Daddy.

 All of the boys enjoyed the carousal. John David loved the breeze in his hair.

Parish Carnival

Mass followed by face painting, pony rides, games, and a bounce house! Could we have asked for a more wonderful day?!

 I wasn't sure if my little two would actually ride the ponies, but, much to my surprise, they loved it!

 The boys loved having their faces painted. Jacob was a puppy, Joshua a bear (of course), Joseph a monkey, and James a tiger. And next year John David will join in the fun...I wonder what animal he'll choose?

Picnic at the Eicher's

The church had a picnic gathering at the Eicher's home yesterday. There was grilled chicken and green beans and lots and lots of yummy pies!

The children ran and played and the youth played volleyball. Once the sun went down we all sat around the fire. It was cold, but the fire felt nice. The children enjoyed roasting marshmallows over the fire, and we sipped coffee to keep warm.

Carolyn's Pumpkin Patch

Nothing says "Fall" like a day at the pumpkin patch. The weather was perfect for a day of fun at Carolyn's Pumpkin Patch.

We had a lunch of brats, kettle corn and apple slush before heading into the petting barn where we saw all sort of cute farm friends.

The boys had a blast riding the big tractor trikes around the race track! Then we meandered our way through a hay bale maze before taking a hayride out to the pumpkin patch!

The boys each picked out their own pumpkin. They were excited to take them home to use them in creating a Fall display!

We played on the playground and then finished off our fun with a train ride and a pumpkin doughnut!

New Swing Set!!!

Daddy surprised the boys by having a new swing set delivered today! They were so excited! We had been talking about purchasing one for some time. This weekend we were out in Jamesport to do some shopping and stopped by J.A.M. and ended up seeing a set that we liked.

A Trip to Versailles

We took a drive out to Versailles this weekend to pick up some supplies. Our first stop was GVS. The boys loved that store! The boys each got to pick out a special bouncy ball and a balloon.

We picked up all the "necessities". Hair pins and clippies, stockings, suspenders, headscarves...And a few "fun" items as well, such as a quilting mat and a set of toy farm animals for the boys.

We bought a new guest book as well. (it was even on sale! :) )

After GVS we went to Weavers to pick up grocery supplies.


Shopping in Versailles is such a pleasant experience. I love the rural setting, but even moreso I enjoy being around likeminded people every where you go.

Here's what we purchased at our visit to Weavers:
* 50lbs Russet potatoes
* 50lbs white sugar
* 50lbs all purpose flour
* 50lbs wheat flour
* 10lbs light brown sugar
* 10lbs dark brown sugar
* 26lbs oatmeal
* strawberry rhubarb jam (I just couldn't resist!)
* 1 gallon syrup
* 1 gallon white vinegar
* popcorn oil
* 10lbs popcorn kernels
* a pie roller
* a box of half gallon canning jars
* big box of pretzels
* a peck of apples

We really enjoyed the drive through the winding dirt roads and countryside.


Once all of our shopping was done we went to Lehman's for supper. "I like this restaurant" Jacob said. We had a delicious meal of baked steak, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy. It was nice to visit with the ladies there.

After supper we headed off for the long drive home. We saw a gorgeous sunset. The sun looked like a huge orange ball hanging low in the sky. The picture doesn't begin to do it justice!


The boys were so excited about their "presents". What a wonderful day!

Our pantry is now well stocked. I can't wait to get in the kitchen and cook up something special for the boys. :)

Weekend Happenings

Saturday the sun came back out, so Jacob and I went outside to color as promised. What an enjoyable time! I'm not sure if the 3-D chalk is really 3-D, but it was bright and colorful. :) We drew pictures of our family and flowers and suns and all sorts of fun things.

 I love watching the boys play pretend together. They were driving the "dog truck". I'm not sure where they were going, but they were going to get there together and I'm pretty sure the journey was the best part!

Baby Jamie is quite the little pianist. You should hear him sing! He sure enjoys playing piano with mommy, and mommy sure enjoys playing with him. :)

Sunday afternoon we decided to go for a drive along the Sante Fe Trail. I love the area where we live...there are just so many interesting and educational places to go and see! I really think the country land here must be the prettiest in the whole world. There's just something special about the cornfields and green pastures, and that never ending azure blue sky.
