A Crazy, Busy Day!

It's going to be a crazy, busy day! Julia will be here around nine...there is basically none of the "usual" cleaning things to be done, so I am going to have her help with a few last minute things around here. Then, I need to leave around 3 to go meet Rick and get the keys to the new house. After that we are taking a load of boxes over, and I am sure we will enjoy just looking around for a bit. I think it will be exciting for Jacob because he really understands that we are moving.

Tomorrow my husband is participating in a dodge ball tournament with the guys at work. (Yes, you read that right, a dodge ball tournament) I did remind him that there is no room for dodge ball injuries, lol. After work he is picking up the moving truck and is planning to take a load up to the Salvation Army, and then a load over to the new house of mostly boxes and smaller things.

Friday is the big day. The children and I will probably drive over when they take the first load (we are thinking there might be two or three loads in the moving truck), and then we will just stay at the new house while they make the other loads.

I am already tired and it is only a quarter to eight...this can't be good, lol. I need to sit down and make a list of what we need to do today, and then try to remember to breathe. How is it that this move of only 35 miles or so feels as crazy as moving half way across the country???

Oh and Rick read last night that it is supposed to storm on Friday. We will not stress...We will not stress...

Ok, going to work on that to-do list now.

Simple Woman's Day Book

Outside my window...Yet another overcast day, a big pile of tree branches waiting to be hauled off, and the cat- meowing at me as she always does, lol.

I am thinking... Oh, I am too tired to think, there is so much to do, did I start the laundry yet?

From the learning rooms... Oh my, we have got to get back to doing school after we move!!!!

I am thankful for... Coffee; those moment before the boys wake up and the house is oh so quiet; my rice heating pad (which is such a relief when my back is aching); my wonderful and comfortable bed, which feels so good to crawl into at night.

From the kitchen... Coffee, lol, cereal, and instant breakfast. (Hey, we're moving, remember?)

I am wearing... A pink button front sweater, khaki capri's and "bear" feet.

I am reading... sadly, nothing.

I am hoping... That I can get a lot done today, even though my back is hurting. And that all goes well with our move.

I am creating... big piles of clean and ready to be packed laundry

I am praying... That things will go smoothly with our move, that the boys will adjust well to living in a new house.

Around the house... packing and packing and packing, oh, and laundry. Lots and lots of laundry.

One of my favorite things... drinking a warm cup of coffee in silence before waking up the boys

A few plans for the rest of the week... Today is the last full "at home" day before the move, then Julia comes tomorrow.

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

Haircuts

This morning I gave the boys haircuts. The last time I cut Joshua's hair the clippers weren't working all that well and I we had to jump ship. Poor Joseph just had to go without. Rick fixed the clippers this weekend so I thought I would give it another go, and this time was much more successful. Joseph loved the haircut experience, he thought that it tickled and he giggled the entire time. Joshua is the easiest and most cooperative. I had to wrestle Jacob and hold him down as usual. But it's done now :).

I tried to get pictures of the boys after their haircuts, and getting good pictures of them these days is about as difficult as pulling teeth on an alligator. Joseph likes having his taken, but he tries to run towards the camera with a big goofy grin...usually resulting in a squinty eyed silly picture. Joshua is usually good about it, but the last few days he refuses to cooperate. And Jacob...well Jacob is in a phase of making awkward phases and postures any time there is a camera in the near vicinity. So this is as good as it gets right now, lol. Maybe we should wait a bit before attempting to have a family portrait done...

Blessings,

Not Me Monday

I am not sitting here drinking a cup of coffee with Splenda in it, because I am pretty sure I read somewhere that you should not use Splenda when you are expecting. I also did not use said Splenda simply because it is mocha flavored and I was jealous that my husband got to have it.

I did not tell my son to not "act like a dingbat". I assure you I am considerably more sensitive than that.

I did not let the children and I sleep in late this morning because I know we are moving this week and there must be plenty to do.

I have not resorted to feeding my family a diet consisting mainly of cold pre-packaged cereal, corndogs, chicken nuggets and hot dogs. And when I did actually fry up a package of sausage yesterday, my children did not look at it like ravagenous animals ready to pounce. I assure you they were not drooling and foaming at the mouth just for a piece of it.

I have not been sitting around wondering if people can tell when they look at me that I am expecting, or if I just look like never lost my baby belly after Joseph. I am not that shallow. Really, I'm not. No, seriously, I'm really not.

I did not tell my husband that I want to dye my hair, and then describe the color that I want to dye it. And that color was NOT the exact same color that it already is (which is my natural color).

I did not tell my husband to use the wrong paint when we were touching up the little boys' room. And when he used it and it looked wrong, I did not reassure him that it was the right color. I am surely more careful than that.

I did not lose every phone in our house last week after letting my cell phone go dead, and then finally find ONE of our home phones under the living room sofa- with a dead battery. I did not have a wonderful friend of mine call my house over and over again so that I could try to find the phone. And I most certainly did NOT cry about it, lol.

When my husband shaved his beard and cut his hair differently, I did not tell him that he looked 15 years younger. And when he said, "hey that would make me look about 16 or 17", I did NOT tell him that he didn't look his age in the first place and that everyone thought he was much older than he is. I am a very sensitive and sweet, loving and caring wife. I did not then proceed in reassuring him by reminding him that I have always found older men more attractive. And I certainly did not remind him that my childhood crush was Tom Brokaw. (yes, THAT Tom Brokaw from NBC News, who is definitely older than my grandparents)

Ok, I am seriously hoping that once we move and life settles down that it will not be so easy to find things for Not Me Monday. But, who am I kidding?

This Week,,,

We are moving THIS WEEK!!!!!!! Ok, deep breath, I will not panic! Actually, I think we are in pretty good shape. Almost everything is packed, almost everything is done to get the house ready, and all the arrangements for the actual move have been made. Jacob is excited and asks everyday if today is the day to go to the new house.

This week will certainly be busy. Monday and Tuesday, I plan to finish ALL of our laundry and have suitcases packed for the move. Tuesday evening, Rick is planning to load up the suburban with boxes. Wednesday, Julia is coming over for the last time :(, and then that afternoon we are going over to sign papers and get the keys to the new house. We will then take the load of boxes over and probably have fun just looking around our new house. Then Thursday I will probably run a few more small things over, and perhaps take some time to clean the new house. Then Friday is moving day! Saturday we will have to come back over to this house to finish any clean up or last minute things that need to be taken care of. And then Sunday is Rick's birthday. Whew.

The following week will also be busy. Two of the boys have doctor appointments, and people coming over to do things like hook up the phone and internet, and to "open" our pool. The week after that I have my ultrasound and next visit with the midwife. So it looks like it is going to be crazy for a while, lol.

I really need to remember to schedule a vet visit for Oliver as well.

Ok, take another deep breath, lol.

I am really looking forward to setting up the new house though. I absolutely LOVE setting up house. So it will be crazy and busy, but I will be as happy as a pig in mud.

Oh the boys have been just full of great things to say this week...Jacob told me that Joshua likes to play with bugs. He said he puts them in his tractor and in trucks and then he gives them to Joe. Apparently, Joe likes to eat bugs. I will never understand the mind of a little boy... I asked Joshua about the bugs, and then he proceeded to tell me the same things that Jacob had said. Only with much more excitement, lol.

On Friday, I had an appointment with my midwife and I told Jacob that she would listen to the baby, and he asked, "What will the baby say?" We just had to laugh at that one. What a good question!

My husband shaved his beard on Saturday, and this morning Jacob asked him why he took his beard off again today. We then tried to explain the whole concept of how facial hair grows and then some men shave it off, but I think it went over his head.

Joshua kept telling us this weekend that he wants to go ride his tractor outside. We tried explaining to him about how we are in the middle of getting things ready to move, and it is just too busy right now. And then I explained to him all that would happen this week. He looked at me like he was listening intently, and when I asked him if he understood, he smiled really big and said , "My go ride tractor outside then". Too, too cute.

Joe learned a new word, "dog". He was mighty excited about it, too. :) It is such a cute age when they are finally learning to communicate in words, and to be able to do the things their older siblings do. He is just so proud of himself when he can run a little "errand" like getting a diaper or putting something in the garbage, or taking his plate to the sink. He has been so affectionate this past week. He frequently will run up to me for a quick hug, and then back to his playing. And his little kisses are just too cute. He makes an adorable "mah" sound as he kisses. I can hear the start of many more words he is trying to learn. I have a feeling that before we know it, he will be fully talking. I think he knows it, too, lol.

Well that is all for now. I think I will lay down for a few minutes. I am going to need all the energy I can muster over the next few weeks.

May God's Blessings Be Upon You,

Pink Saturday

Well, with nearly everything we own packed, it is a bit of a challenge coming up with something for Pink Saturday! BUT, no need to worry, lol, I can always find something pink amongst my belongings!

Pink scissors make the task of taping up boxes just a little more enjoyable. And who doesn't love a pink spray bottle for cleaning! Oh, and even the cleaning spray is pink. We found a gallon of this commercial cleaning solution for $2.50 at a local bargain store. And the greatest part is that it only takes a tiny bit to make up a bottle to use. And it works like a charm!

Simple Woman's Day Book

Outside my window... An overcast day and a cat staring at me like she is starving to death.

I am thinking... Is it too early in the morning for enchiladas?

From the learning rooms... Oh my, we have got to get back to doing school after we move!!!!

I am thankful for... Oh so many things! My husband's help while we are packing, and his patience about the many things that are falling by the wayside right now. The beautiful new house that will soon be our home. The fact that Jacob wants to help me as I pack and clean up around the house.

From the kitchen... Uh....Does it even count as from my kitchen if it is nothing more than cold cereal or convenience foods that are simply heated up???? The kitchen is sadly neglected during this time.

I am wearing... A navy blue excerskirt, white long sleeve tee shirt, bare feet, and my hair in a ponytail- keeping it simple and comfy today!

I am reading... 1997 Keepers at Home magazines

I am hoping... That my headache will go away so that I can focus, I am feeling a little overwhelmed but trying to figure out what all I need to do today.

I am creating... Unfortunately nothing but a maze of boxes at the moment

I am praying... That tomorrow will go smoothly and that we might finally be able to stop having so much anxiety about the whole thing.

Around the house... packing and packing and packing, oh, and laundry. Lots and lots of laundry.

One of my favorite things... cuddling with Oliver as I fall asleep. There is something so relaxing about feeling my sweet puppy cuddled up close to me.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Did I mention that I am packing???

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

With Love,

Ten More Days...

More of the same today...laundry and packing! The boys are a bit "off" this week. I think that the younger two don't understand that we are moving but they see the boxes and our things "disappearing" and they know our schedule is off, so that makes them a bit grumpy. And Jacob understands that we are moving, but since he stresses about the details of everything, he is of course finding things to stress about. "But, will _ or _ fit in a box, how will you put my bed in a box? Will it all fit on the big truck? How will we carry all of this on to the big truck? Who will drive the big truck? Will EVERYTHING be at the new house? What about _?" I do love having a detail oriented child, but I do hope he will learn to relax a bit. I am worried he will give himself ulcers before he is ten, lol.

So, I am just going to continue finishing up the packing, washing and folding laundry, and trying to not lose my mind in the last ten days before we move :).

Blessings,
