Simple Woman's Day Book

Outside my window... An overcast day and a cat staring at me like she is starving to death.

I am thinking... Is it too early in the morning for enchiladas?

From the learning rooms... Oh my, we have got to get back to doing school after we move!!!!

I am thankful for... Oh so many things! My husband's help while we are packing, and his patience about the many things that are falling by the wayside right now. The beautiful new house that will soon be our home. The fact that Jacob wants to help me as I pack and clean up around the house.

From the kitchen... Uh....Does it even count as from my kitchen if it is nothing more than cold cereal or convenience foods that are simply heated up???? The kitchen is sadly neglected during this time.

I am wearing... A navy blue excerskirt, white long sleeve tee shirt, bare feet, and my hair in a ponytail- keeping it simple and comfy today!

I am reading... 1997 Keepers at Home magazines

I am hoping... That my headache will go away so that I can focus, I am feeling a little overwhelmed but trying to figure out what all I need to do today.

I am creating... Unfortunately nothing but a maze of boxes at the moment

I am praying... That tomorrow will go smoothly and that we might finally be able to stop having so much anxiety about the whole thing.

Around the house... packing and packing and packing, oh, and laundry. Lots and lots of laundry.

One of my favorite things... cuddling with Oliver as I fall asleep. There is something so relaxing about feeling my sweet puppy cuddled up close to me.

A few plans for the rest of the week... Did I mention that I am packing???

Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you...

With Love,

Ten More Days...

More of the same today...laundry and packing! The boys are a bit "off" this week. I think that the younger two don't understand that we are moving but they see the boxes and our things "disappearing" and they know our schedule is off, so that makes them a bit grumpy. And Jacob understands that we are moving, but since he stresses about the details of everything, he is of course finding things to stress about. "But, will _ or _ fit in a box, how will you put my bed in a box? Will it all fit on the big truck? How will we carry all of this on to the big truck? Who will drive the big truck? Will EVERYTHING be at the new house? What about _?" I do love having a detail oriented child, but I do hope he will learn to relax a bit. I am worried he will give himself ulcers before he is ten, lol.

So, I am just going to continue finishing up the packing, washing and folding laundry, and trying to not lose my mind in the last ten days before we move :).

Blessings,

Prayer Request

As most of you know, our family was involved in a car accident last year that resulted in the death of a young man who was driving a motorcycle. The accident was ruled our fault, and therefore they had to find something to give my husband a ticket for. Everyone agreed that the accident was truly just a tragic accident and even the police report from that day says that he didn't really see any fault. So they ended up giving him a ticket for "failure to yield" which is the lowest ticket they could have given. We went to court expecting it to really not be anything major, but when my husband went in front of the judge she refused to allow my husband to just plead guilty to the ticket. (we did not feel it was right to fight the ticket, we didn't feel like he had done anything wrong but did accept that the accident was our fault so we felt it was only right to accept the ticket). She had asked my husband to just sit back down and wait. We realized that this was something more than just paying a fine. An attorney came up to us and asked if he could speak to us. He explained that the judge would not accept his plea because she didn't feel that what the prosecutor (who had never met us or even knew anything about the situation) had recommended was fair or right in this situation. He had apparently recommended jail time without even reading the police report or any other information about the accident. He just saw that it was a fatality and recommended the highest that he could. So the judge had sent someone to speak to the prosecutor and when he realized the situation he immediately felt differently and sent a friend of his, who is an attorney, to speak with us. We explained to the attorney that we could not hire someone to defend us because of the beliefs of the church we were part of (the church taught non-resistance and that we could not defend ourseleves even if wrongfully accused) He understood and asked if he could work on our behalf it we did not "hire" him. We were amazed at his kindness. The whole thing was so stressful and I ended up miscarrying at 3 months (this was in december).

To make a really long story less long- Our final court date is tomorrow. Everything has worked out very well and they have ended up with giving him the least penalty possible (meaning that he will get points on his license and have to go to a driving school thing). Everyone has been incredibly kind, the jugde, the prosecutor, the attorney, every one we have come in contact with throughout this ordeal, even the family of the man who died has been very understanding and not at all had ill-wishes towards us. Still it feels a little anxious knowing that we have to go to court tomorrow to finalize everything. We are thankful though that it seems like we will finally be able to put this behind us (at least this part of it, I think that the pain of being in the accident and seeing a man lose his life will always be with us).

We would greatly appreciate your prayers for tomorrow. The attorney wanted me to be there, he said I shouldn't need to do or say anything, but since I was the only witness, he wanted me there anyway. I feel anxious about going, even though we already know what the outcome is supposed to be.
For anyone who doesn't know about this, here is a link to my original post, written a couple of days after the accident. It is my recount of what happened.

Not Me Monday

I enjoy reading my friend Pam's "Not Me Mondays" so much that I had to go and read the others over at My Charming Kids, and then decided to do one myself. So here is my first Not Me Monday Post.

I did not just tell my three year old to go clean up the playroom so that I can drink an instant breakfast in peace. I am a very loving and attentive mother.

I did not have to get dressed in a crazy hurry at 8:30 this morning because I got a phone call that the AC guy was pulling in my driveway. I am always prepared and ready to face the day bright and early each morning.

I did not eat carrots out of a serving bowl the other day immediately after lunch and then get told by my three year old that this was not "proper". I also did not tell this same three year old to be quiet and go get me a fork so that I would not have to get back up. I would never use being pregnant as an excuse to eat carrots from a serving bowl in the living room.

I was also not asked by said three year old if there would be any food left in the house because I am eating it all.

I did not pack the dish scrubber the other day even though we still had two weeks before we move.

I also did not run out of pants for one of my children because I fell behind on laundry and then had to "borrow" pants from one of his brothers.

I did not cry about wanting a sandwich from Schloltzky's the other day and then throw up in a paper bag in the car after eating it.

I did not laugh when my husband accidentally bought girl's pull ups for our two year old. I also did not laugh even harder when we put a pull up on him that had a ballerina sliding down a rainbow. I would never put a girl pull up on my son so I couldn't possibly have laughed at that.

I did not tell my husband on Saturday that I had a headache because I had not yet eaten a bowl of olives with a glass of sparkling water. And I certainly didn't pick out the "ugly" olives from the bowl and give them to my son.

I am so glad that I did not do all of these things!

Love,

"I am NOT a baby anymore!"

After lunch Jacob and Joshua always take their plates to the sink, and then Jacob helps with clearing any other dishes from the table, including Joseph's. Well, today as I was asking Jacob to take Joseph's plate to the sink, little Joe looked up at me with a frustrated look as he reached for his plate. I realized that he didn't want Jacob to take his plate, he wanted to take it himself! And so he did. He could not get it up into the sink, but he was proud enough just knowing that he had carried it from the table to there, all by himself.

Now that he is a full time "walker", I suppose it is time to accept that he is not a little baby anymore, but a full blown toddler. Why is it so hard to let go, even of just the little things????

Many Blessings,

Oh My Silly Boys

Well, Daddy was standing at the armoire getting out the diapers for yet another diaper change when Joshua came up behind him and said, "My going to push you in" with a sly little giggle. So of course Daddy had to pick him up and put him in the cabinet, lol. Well, then Jacob thought this looked like great fun so he wanted a turn as well.

Sometimes we just have too much fun around here.

Shopping and Packing and Laundry, Oh My

Oh wow, only 11 days until our move!!!! Ok, I must take a deep breath and focus. There is still much that I need to do, but I am making good progress.

This weekend we took Jacob shopping for clothes. He is growing so fast! I cannot believe how tall he looks. When I look at him he seems more like a "big kid" than a preschooler. He was most excited to get new shoes, lol. We also found a few new pairs of shoes for me, shoes for Joshua and some adorably cute plaid pants with matching hats for Joseph.

We did some packing in the kitchen this weekend. Rick was a huge help, especially with all the heavy food items that needed to be packed. He also brought in more boxes and paper so I can get things done while he is at work. Our house feels like a maze of boxes at this point.

Today I am going to try to tackle a mountain of laundry, which somehow seems to be multiplying each night as we sleep. And I am also going to get some more packing done from our closet. I am hoping we will have enough boxes. I can't even believe that we might not. We saved nearly all the boxes from our move here, how can we possibly have more stuff than we did a year and a half ago????

I am going to add a few new pictures from this weekend as I get a chance today.

May God's Blessings Be Upon You!
